bcIMC opens new building in downtown Calgary

CALGARY, ALBERTA, September 14, 2010—British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (bcIMC) is pleased to announce the grand opening of Jamieson Place at 308, 4th Avenue SW, Calgary. Jamieson Place is a 38-storey, 880,000 square foot “AAA” office complex owned by bcIMC. It was developed by Bentall LP, designed by Gibbs Gage Architects and constructed by EllisDon. The project is managed by Bentall LP on behalf of bcIMC.

The grand opening of Jamieson Place will be marked by a reception for media and invited guests on September 23 from 12:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Jamieson Place Winter Garden on the second floor of the building (in the Plus 15 area). Speeches and presentations by Alderman Drew Farrell and Mr. John Marrotta, Senior Vice President (Western Region) for Bentall LP, beginning at 12:30 p.m., will address the building’s unique architectural aspects, its target LEEDTM Gold certification and the project’s historical influences.

The Jamieson Place Winter Garden is a unique amenity for a downtown Calgary office building. Jamieson Place also features an innovative biowall at its west end and a monument dedicated to the “Alberta Champions,” six important figures who contributed to the early development of Calgary and the province of Alberta.

As part of bcIMC’s commitment to public art and the community at large, Jamieson Place features two significant original pieces of public art, one by Dale Chihuly in the Winter Garden and the other by Dennis Oppenheim in the main lobby.

Jamieson Place is named after Calgary Judge Alice Jane Jamieson, who was the first female judge in the British Empire, a magistrate of the women’s court of Calgary from 1916 to 1931 and instrumental as an early advocate for women’s rights and issues in Calgary.

Since the inception of its real estate program, bcIMC has invested in properties that are energy efficient and environmentally and tenant friendly. Jamieson Place is designed to reduce energy and water use, minimize waste and contribute to overall health and well-being. Tenants include ARC Resources, TAQA North, Peters & Company, Jennings Capital and Statoil.
